Inspired by Huichol masks, the Nelson Atkins’ outdoor sculptures fill the exterior space and create an interesting pattern. Each sculpture has designated color, which is also applied to the map allowing the user to make that connection.
When a destination is reached and the sculpture is right in front of you, the appropriate colored crayon is waiting for you to decorate your mask and release your creative side! After all six sculptures are visited you will have your very own vibrant Huichol mask ready to be worn and shown to the world. Created in collaboration with Taylor Hillestad for the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City, MO.
